Futon Covers: What You Can't See Online

The key component to any product is quality. Futon covers are easy to manufacture; however there are a few key differences that make ALL THE DIFFERENCE:

Fabric Construction:

It starts with the quality fabrics we use. For example, our solid color futon covers are made from durable muslin broadcloth that won't fade, shrink or fall apart from wear and tear. Remember a futon is a bed and a couch which means it receives a lot of abuse. Many retailers will use just light weight poly cotton and tear more easily and fray just after a few washings. Or they offer 100% cotton which has been imported from China. Always remember you get what you pay for. Any retailer selling a cotton futon cover is doing so because it is cheaper for them. Typically these covers are very thin and tear easily and or shrink. Just because it says “100% cotton” doesn’t mean it is better. You can bet that any cotton futon cover which is made in China, India or Pakistan will not be worth the money. It is almost always better to buy a futon cover like ours. This will insure it can take the wear.

Sewing Specifications:

All our covers use a 5 thread safety stitch rather than just a single needle machine. This is an enormous difference between our covers and most others. Sewing is a critical aspect of a well made futon cover. Using the 5 thread with 12 stitches per inch creates a much better seam. This in turn, will be much less likely to fray and open. Even on the few covers we import from our factory overseas, we implement the same specifications. You should always know this question from the seller to know if the futon cover will stand the test of time.

Zipper Construction:

All our zippers use #5 zippers made with nylon teeth to reduce the damage to the zipper itself. Our zipper pull is a large metal unit which will not bend or break. Many futon covers sold by futon retailers use inexpensive plastic zippers that are cheaply made and are often too small. Most futon covers use a #3 style zipper whose width is one half the size and thus often rips from the fabric as the user opens and closes it for laundering.
